Our Trustees

The Board of Berkhamsted Sports Grounds Charitable Association comprises representatives of the member clubs and a number of independent Trustees

Brief details of each Trustee below:

Paul Forster

Chair

Paul has been Chair of Berkhamsted Sports Grounds Charitable Association since 2019. He has an extensive background in senior management roles in marketing and communications, 20+ years as a Visiting Professor and 9 years as Chair of Prostate Cancer UK. Paul lives in Potten End, is a lifelong tennis fan and continues to play regularly.

Chris Fleming

Treasurer

Chris is a Chartered Accountant with 25+ years of experience in the reinsurance industry and was appointed as Treasurer of the BSGCA in April 2024.  Chris is a keen cricketer and is also Treasurer of Berkhamsted Cricket Club.

Andrew Sparrow

Company Secretary

Born in Sheffield, lived in London and abroad for many years, moved to Berkhamsted in 2017.  Once upon a time, I played football (good standard), cricket (moderate standard) and rugby (low standard) – career highlight playing for England in the Lawyers’ World Cup in Hungary in 1994. I’m a director at Berkhamsted football club, and a Founder Member of the Berkhamsted FC Supporters Association.

Tim Buckley

Berkhamsted Cricket Club

A resident of Berkhamsted for nearly 30 years and has been actively involved in the cricket club for most of that time. Also a member of the hockey club and occasional jogger.

Steve Davis

Berkhamsted Football Club

I have been involved with Berko FC since I was around 15 nearly 50 years in fact. I am a sports groundsman by trade and look after the towns pitch. I’ve also lived in Berko all my life and feel like I’m quite well known in the community. I’ve played most sports in my time and represented the county at a few. I’m married to Jackie and live in the high street. Looking forward to my retirement in 3 years time.

Paul Dubenski

Berkhamsted & Hemel Hempstead Hockey Club

Paul is a retired qualified engineer and had a 34 year career mainly in the aviation aircraft refuelling industry managing: engineering design, construction projects, operations management and acting as Director of multiple joint venture companies. Paul has lived in Berkhamsted since 1989 where he has been an active player, umpire, member and officer at Berkhamsted and Hemel Hempstead Hockey Club (BHHHC). Paul has been BHHHC Operations Manager for the new BHHHC astroturf pitch since 2022 and BHHHC Chair since 2023. Paul is keen to support BHHHC and BSG provide the local community with access to sports and associated activities which are so beneficial for health, mental health and making friends locally.

John has been a keen squash player for 40 years, the last 20 at BLT&SRC since he and his wife and daughter moved to Berkhamsted. He has chaired the club for the past 3 years after retiring.

Alex Coakley

Independent Trustee

Alex has lived in Berkhamsted for seven years with his wife and two young daughters. Sport has been a constant in his life both professionally and personally. His career has seen him work in various commercially facing roles within the Sports Technology and Digital worlds. 

Stephi Brett-Lee

Independent Trustee

Stephi has lived in Berkhamsted for seven years with her husband and young children. In her professional life she works as a Marketing and Communications Director, and in her personal life loves to travel and have adventures. Stephi has recently taken up tennis following in the footsteps of her four-year-old daughter and loves to take part and watch all types of sport.

Michael Atkins

Independent Trustee

Michael is a long-standing resident of Berkhamsted having attended Berkhamsted School and qualified as a Solicitor in 1995 and has been a Partner at Harrowell & Atkins Solicitors in the town since 2001. Michael has lots of sporting contacts and connections in and around Berkhamsted and plays an active role in the local community.  Michael still plays a lot of sport including golf (member of Ashridge Golf Club), tennis, running, cycling and he used to play cricket for Berkhamsted Cricket Club (where is now a Vice-President) and hockey for Berkhamsted & Hemel Hockey Club.
